More on Hurricanes and Divine Providence

The demonstrably silly post I made the other day Hey Florida, Have You Got the Hint Yet? got linked to by Atrios and many other blogs. So it got more than seventeen thousand visitors in a couple of days, very very few of whom then went on to look around the rest of the blog. A few clearly thought I was in earnest.

So, for the record, just because Jeanne did a dispsy doodle and is now heading straight for Palm Beach does not mean anything about Fate, Warnings, Butterfly Ballots, or who should be President.

Jeanne heads for Palm Beach

Unless, of course, the fear that this just might be a Sign would make you more likely to vote for Kerry in order to begin to undo the consequences of the ballot mess in Palm Beach four years ago. In which case, yes, it's a Sign, and we can expect continual disaster until we all get the message. Notice how the predicted track hugs the East Coast right up to Washington, DC? But like Pharoah before him, the current ruler will not heed the warnings…the people must repent before it's too late…

Actually, come to think of it, we can expect disaster until this lot is out of Washington. Trouble is, the disasters are man-made.

  1. Brad DeLong says:

Ha! Shows what you know. If you were a post-Singularity high school student in 3000 running a simulation of U.S. political history around 2000, wouldn’t you be tempted to tweak things to use hurricanes to punish Palm Beach for the Butterfly Ballot? And don’t you agree that–if there is a Singularity–then it is overwhelmingly probable that we are living not in the *real* 2004 but in a post-Singularity simulation of such?

Just because “natural law” appears to hold with probability one doesn’t mean that it really does.

Actually, I prefer the ‘global warming is heating the Carribean causing more hurricanes so its all GWBush’s fault for killing the Kyoto round’ theory if I’m shopping for monocausal explanations.

  3. John Dudrey says:

Is it significant that Hurricane Jeanne appears to have formed a cursive capital “L” (for Liberal perhaps)? Maybe it is a sign….

  4. I saw Frances’ eye pass over, and I swear the face of Dick Cheney was there in the clouds…

  5. Chris says:

Actually, if you look at the storm’s plotted track…it looks kinda like a W. Coincidence? I think not.

Contrast that prediction track with this polling report:

Notice what happens each time there’s a swing in candidate momentum?

You guys better get the message quickly.

“In the past four years, America’s national debt has reached an all-time high,” the ad’s narrator said. “And who’s responsible? You are. You’re sitting there eating a big bowl of Fritos, watching TV, and getting fatter as the country goes to hell. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.”

I find it very disturbing that” scarry Kerry”supporters would use our devistation to sway votes! It also shows how sick democrats are to say we deserve this because we voted for Bush.
