Bret Fausett has a great question at Lextext.com,
Someone came up with a new list of the seven man-made wonders of the world. Now, really, what's more wondrous? Some old buildings and statutes...or the Internet? The Internet wasn't even a finalist.
And then there are the “women made” wonders of the world, which pretty much include every person on the planet :>)
I was under the impression that a man was frequently involved in that too.
Silly people — the whole thing was about tourism, not about the true man-made wonders.
Freak, I should have known better, this is not a blog for comedy amateurs. Hey, come come Dave Hoffman thinks this is a group blog? http://www.concurringopinions.com/archives/2007/07/the_flat_legal.html#more
The Economist did something like this a few years ago. IIRC, the Internet was one of their top seven. Among the others: the 747, the credit card, the atom bomb, and the birth control pill.
“Some old buildings and statutes…or the Internet? “
You exhibit the bias of the enthusiastic techie.
The internet or something like it was a foregone conclusion from the beginning of the era of mass communication
