Ben needs to go, now. Disclosure: one of my undergrad classmates worked for Ben in Nebraska for years, after working for John Kerry. Ben has always been a conservative, no principles, type of politician, and he doesn’t deserve any slack. He’s better than Roman Hruska, but just barely. I wrote a letter to Ben when he announced that he would vote for John Roberts as Chief Justice, but Ben’s staff did not reply. I’ve heard some disturbing things about Ben over the years, so I’m not surprised that he is carrying Mutual of Omaha’s water on this issue.
Correction: my classmate worked for Bob Kerrey at the time of Kerrey’s election as governor of Nebraska.
